The entire Adobe suite is used extensively within my design work and Dreamweaver is no exception.
I’ve been using Dreamweaver since the Macromedia days and have used it on it’s own as well as with Adobe Contribute, although with the introduction of web based Content Management Systems, Contribute is less of a selling point.
Although Dreamweaver can be used as a visual design tool, the websites I create are based in PHP so I rarely used the design view and live solely in the world of code.
Using Dreamweaver speeds up the process of creating sites because it suggests and autocompletes code for you. It can also be used as a FTP system and can house multiple sites in one installation.
I use Dreamweaver at the start of any website coding project and although it could be replaced with a lightweight text editor, I am yet to find one that competes.
